New York, NY (PRWEB via PRWebDirect) October 2, 2006 -- Marathon-running husband-and-wife authors Andrew Dornenburg and Karen Page are on book tour this month wearing T-shirts and running shorts. That’s because the first month of stops while touring for their new book WHAT TO DRINK WITH WHAT YOU EAT (Little Brown; published today) are “virtual.”
Starting Monday, October 2nd, they’ll be visiting more than two dozen Web sites that have agreed to feature their new book on a specified weekday in October, running an announcement, book review, author Q&A, or something altogether different that its host has dreamed up.
Partcipating sites include some of the most lauded and/or popular food-loving sites on the Web, from David Leite’s www.LeitesCulinaria.com, winner of the first James Beard Award given to a Web site (2006), to Molly Wizenberg’s Orangette.Blogspot.com, which won the 2005 Food Blog Award as “Best Overall Food Blog.”
The authors’ “Virtual Book Tour” also includes a few quirky sites, such as the one run by Dr. Enoch Choi, a physician who claims the title of “22nd most popular wine blogger” and was profiled in The New York Times in August for his habit of blogging in bed.
This isn’t the first time Dornenburg and Page have been pioneers at the intersection of food and technology. In 1995, they hosted one of the first online food shows, “The Chef’s Dinner Club,” on AOL. In 1996, they co-hosted Julia Child for her first online chat on AOL, which was reported nationally from the Los Angeles Times to USA Today. Just this past May 8, 2006, they co-hosted the first Live Blog from backstage at the James Beard Awards, interviewing and photographing winners for their “Top 10 Food Blog” on www.BecomingAChef.com, which features Page receiving a birthday kiss from chef Mario Batali.
