First Ever Tennis Chant Serves Up Excitement at the Sony Ericsson Open

Miami, FL (PRWEB via PRWebDirect) March 26, 2008 - Bringing a whole new level of crowd interaction to the game of tennis, Sony Ericsson revealed a new spectator chant today that will allow fans to cheer in unison during the start of each match played in the stadium at the Sony Ericsson Open. "Serve it Up" was created to generate excitement for the crowd and players during the tournament, and ultimately make tennis a more interactive spectator sport.

Spectators at the Sony Ericsson Open are encouraged to clap their hands, stomp their feet and shout at the tops of their voices each time the chant plays in the stadium. Even those on the court will get involved - each ball person will have signs with the chant words and the screens in the stadium will show local Miami residents doing the "Serve it Up" chant.

"I think it's great that Sony Ericsson makes tennis livelier and creates activities for players that also involve the fans," said tennis player Jelena Jankovic. "I even added some high kicks to my chant so hopefully the fans will get creative with their chants too!"

Through its sponsorship of the women's tennis tour, and the Sony Ericsson Open, Sony Ericsson aims to bring tennis to a wide audience.

"By introducing the 'Serve it Up' chant at the Sony Ericsson Open we hope to continue to innovate the game of tennis and increase the level of audience interaction, said Dee Dutta, Corporate Vice President and Head of Marketing Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications. "The fans are crucial to keeping tennis alive and by taking the game to audiences in a new and exciting way, we hope that fans and players alike can enjoy the most entertaining atmospheres at tournaments around the world."

Sony Ericsson is committed to bringing entertainment, innovation and glamour to tennis by creating a unique sporting event. Sony Ericsson strives to energize the fan experience at the Sony Ericsson Open and to take the excitement of the game to new audiences.
