From Africa to Asia, the 16-video educational series is made up of one-on-one interviews with tea experts, growers, foodies, tea company owners, tea houses, organic and fair trade experts, and many others from various continents. Video subjects include ‘how tea is made’ and ‘the history of Chinese tea,’ all with the common theme of promoting world peace.
Each “Passage to Peace” video exposes the ancient art of tea appreciation found throughout the world’s contemporary societies. Viewers hear from various tea luminaries on how the culture of tea places people from different backgrounds, societies, races, religions, nationalities, and ages on common ground, promoting dialogue and conversation.
From tea shop owners in the western world to small family farmers in Asia and Africa, “Passage to Peace” outlines the challenges tea artisans encounter in the face of market competition and big business economies. Audience members witness through the films’ unique dialogue the important role of socially and environmentally-conscious businesses like Fair Trade.
Founded five years ago in San Francisco, Samovar Tea Lounge recently created this series of instructive short documentaries promoting world peace with the purpose of generating positive future change between people and between cultures.
