Launch of ASPEL, the Global Association for Executive Learning Professionals

Barcelona, Spain (PRWEB via PRWebDirect), September 29, 2009 -- Today sees the official launch of ASPEL, the Association for Professional & Executive Learning, at the European Training & Development Summit 2009 in Barcelona, Spain. ASPEL is the first executive development association to be designed from the outset to appeal to a global membership base, providing resources for trainers, networking meetings and matchmaking between solution seekers and solution providers. ASPEL is also developing both accreditation (for companies) and certification (for individuals) to improve quality standards in the industry.

The association will appeal to all those involved in executive development, including company HR and training professionals, consultants, coaches, academics and e-learning specialists. With an estimated 4 million people around the world involved in Executive learning, and an industry measured in billions of dollars, it is perhaps surprising that until today, there has been no global network for professionals in the field.

As a non-profit association, ASPEL invests in leadership and managerial development for institutions that would otherwise not be able to access the expertise they require, and to this end, has established a strategic partnership with EUCLID, the association for Third-Sector Leaders in Europe.

Jørgen Thorsell, Executive Vice-President of Mannaz, a leading Executive Development Centre, said "The global market for training and development is highly fragmented with many players and thus it is very low in transparency. The idea of having one central place to provide easy match of corporate shoppers and providers is just excellent. I am delighted that ASPEL will provide this central global point of contact".

In addition to its web portal (http://www.aspel.org), ASPEL provides matchmaking and job search services to its members, as well as a number of resources, including a growing Body of Knowledge. ASPEL Executive Director Jan Kingsley says: "Not only do we want to position ourselves as the association of choice for learning professionals, but we actively seek their contributions to our Body of Knowledge, which will eventually become the de-facto standard for excellence in the field of executive development. It's an exciting and challenging project, and we are extremely lucky to have an active and experienced Advisory Board to assist us. "

The new association consists of a network of Country Directors which is eventually expected to grow to around 60 worldwide. Each Country Director is responsible for membership management, organizing local meetings, research and marketing. "This is our key differentiator" explains Kingsley, "enabling us to really understand our members and provide them with a personalised service in their own language".
